Emchap's Shit from the Internet 10/26/22 🍠
I am spending the week in Palm Springs, where I am enjoying being drunk near a pool like it is my job. (I am also, during the day, doing my actual job from one of the many tastefully appointed couches in this vacation rental.) I’m enjoying the change of pace, but am sad at how little Fall Stuff I’ve done with it being nearly the end of October.
But: I am told it’s raining at home, and my building is ironing out the radiator heat situation, and I have hopefully a cozy winter ahead of me. There are worse situations in which to find myself.
Shit to read
After the Revolution, which I did finally finish on this vacation after a few weeks of stops and starts. It’s a really interesting near-future speculative fiction book about what happens post-the-US. I like the author’s podcast, and I think he writes particularly well abut drugs, guns, and Christian extremism, and those form the basis of the book.
A lovely, goofy little interview with the folks who run the bar where the negroni sbagliato was invented.
These are, apparently, the only things I’ve read all week!
Shit to eat
Break up just so much cauliflower, given that there are 11 people staying in the house in which you find yourself.
Spread it across baking sheets and cake pans and whatever else you have.
Douse it in olive oil and cumin and salt and red pepper, and toss it around. You can measure but also, meh.
Into the oven at 450 until it’s brown, around 30 minutes.
While it cooks, char flour tortillas over the stove. Take advantage of the one burner that’s just losing its mind in terms of flame volume.
Toss a can of rinsed beans onto each pan to warm.
Assemble the tortillas and veg and maybe some pickles and definitely some sour cream or cheese into tacos.
Enjoy.

Shit to watch
Still the CRJ Beach House video baybee.
Shit to buy
Kind of obsessed with this dress.
Also this crop top with cute heart cutout.
And this dress, which a friend looked super glam in when she was at this house earlier.
