Emchap’s Shit from the Internet 9/19/18 🍠
This weekend, I went to the county fair. It was the first fair I have been to in probably a decade, and I went to do two things:
Eat as much fried food as I could stuff in my body
See Joan Jett and Cheap Trick play a concert
Both happened, plus I got to pet a sheep and look at a fancy goth chicken and see people's award-winning decorative chocolates (with literal blue ribbons!) and it was great.
A short list of foods I consumed or saw consumed by my friends at the fair:
Pepperjack cheese on a stick (amazing)
Lemonade (so good)
Mexican funnel cake (what if you took a churro, made it a funnel cake, and covered it in whipped cream? this, which was amazing)
Ramen burrito (which had funions in it, so, that's a thing in this world)
Potato chips fried and stuck onto a core of sausage
Dole whip (which you can get outside of Disney?)
A malt (looked great)
An ice cream sundae (ice cream is the best)
Fried pineapple (gonna say it: not my fav, but also, fried!)
Something called a "rib snack" (three ribs, one piece of Texas toast)
A BBQ sundae (essentially a Double Down but Good: cup of mashed potatoes with pulled pork and a cherry tomato on top)
As someone who enjoys terrible choices, it was an amazing experience. I regret that I was not able to find the booth which sold the pickle cored out and filled with cheese, battered and deep fried on a stick; nor was I able to wolf down cheesecake on a stick at the concert.
The concert was amazing. Cheap Trick was first, and though I only knew the two songs that everyone else knew, they were completely fun—old and loud and seeming to enjoy themselves. Joan Jett came after, and it was only via the concert that I learned that I actually know a shitload of Joan Jett songs! I got to make fun of some people making out ostentatiously during a song about infidelity, and got to see a friend be overwhelmed by "Crimson and Clover," and overall it was a delightful night out. Everyone should go to their local fairs, and see their goth chickens, and eat their fried goods.

Shit to eat
Saute some garlic in some oil.
Add a half-cup broth (or a quarter bullion cube and some water, you do you).
Add a little under an ounce of heavy cream.
Toss in four or five frozen broccoli florets and put everything over low heat.
Hang out for 10 minutes.
Add an ounce and a half of cheddar, cut up.
Stir stir stir.
Take off the heat and immersion blend.
Enjoy your tiny cup of broccoli cheddar soup using things that you have lying around your house, if you are me.

Today would have been my mom's 59th birthday. Eat some carrot cake in her honor.
Shit to listen to
The art class I went to last night played a Johnny Cash playlist, and you should listen to "A Thing Called Love."
